Rochas Pigskin Tote

Just the other day, Megs and I were having kind of an odd discussion. I don’t know how we ultimately landed on the topic, but somehow, fake watch, the subject of pig leather came about. We both figured that it existed, since the nickname of “pigskin” for old-fashioned footballs certainly came from their porcine origins (although they were made from a pig’s bladder, not its skin, but that’s a whole ‘nother kettle of fish.) She and I spend exponentially more time than the average purse-lover studying the details of the world’s finest handbags, and neither of us could ever remember coming across a bag made primarily of pigskin.

Mere days later, and I come across the Rochas Pigskin Tote, from the first look at the brand’s Fall/Winter 2010 accessories collection. With a little research, japenese genuine leather purses, I’ve found that Prada appears to have made a travel bag out of pigskin in 2007 and that there are many suppliers overseas offering the leather to manufacturers. Pigskin appears to be durable and at least reasonably attractive – why don’t we see it more often?

That’s a difficult question to answer, since I’m not inside the heads of the people that design high-end handbags and, as you would expect, basically none of them have ever commented on their lack of porcine accessories. That doesn’t mean we can’t recklessly speculate, however, and that’s exactly what I intend to do.

The more I looked, replica rolex submariner, the more I found that workmanlike leather goods were mostly what utilized pigskin – work gloves, men’s boots, things that get dirty and take a beating. Somewhat unexpectedly, I also found that the material was quite popularly advertised as the main ingredient in lots of counterfeit bags.

Based on that information and what we see of the Rochas tote, it may be that pigskin is just a bit too durable and hardy for most luxurious bag designs. I could see it working for bags like this one that are super structured and clean-lined, but I think that pigskin is ideally left for more functional uses. Are Megs and I the only bag fans that have ever wondered about this?

Pricing information is unavailable at this time – the bag will debut in August. Photo via Style.com.

Marc Jacobs takes us on a 70s vacation for Spring 2011

Marc Jacobs is almost inarguably the king of New York Fashion Week, and his Marc Jacobs Collection show is always the most sought-after invitation of them all (at least stateside). This year, the show livestreamed online to thousands of fans while the editors and buyers looked on in Manhattan, watches 4 u, and what a splendid show Marc created to kick off the digital age at his company – if you like a good 70s reference in your spring wardrobe, that is.

Jacobs will also join us in the 21st century by launching online retail at MarcJacobs.com today, watches for you, but you’ll have to wait until next year if you want to scoop up the collection’s fabulously wearable printed dresses and (slightly less fabulous) shiny pantsuits in a palette of plum, pumpkin and raspberry. While you wait patiently, we have photos of the best looks to entice you, after the jump. Oh, and the bags! How could I forget the bags? Jacobs took a refreshing turn back to normalcy this season, watches store, and the richly hued day clutch seems to be his bag of choice for spring.
From his runway to God’s ears, as they say.

Judith Leiber gives us irresistible 1920s glamour

After featuring a crystal-encrusted Valentino bag so prominently yesterday, it’s only fair to recognize the brand that made sparkly animal clutches into a worldwide business. Judith Leiber can bedazzle anything and make it into a great work of inventiveness, wholesale bags online, but my favorites from the brand are often among its more restrained offerings.

It’s difficult to imagine a context in which the Judith Leiber Crystal Chain Strap Clutch could be considered “restrained,” and yet that’s exactly what this evening bag is,top 10 list of best watch brands, when compared to a Swarovski-studded Dachsund.

Art Deco-inspired fashion has an exuberance and life to it that I just love – we had just emerged from the first World War and had yet to see the Great Depression, rolex replica, the Holocaust or the Cold War. The economy was booming, opportunity appeared to be everywhere, and you can see that reflected in the clothing and design that reached acclaim during the era. The lines and colors in this minaudiere are clearly referential of that era, and it makes me want to go out and find a spangly, drop-waist party frock with which to pair it. Chloe Iris Strass Crochet Clutch

Are you able to look at an item and see the amount of time and work that went into it,cheap designer purses wholesale, thereby justifying the price to yourself? I have done this with quite a few bags in my collection, including my Hermes Birkins. The price for a Birkin is top of the handbag line, but the craftsmanship that goes into the bag has me able to justify the price. There are other bags that I simply cannot agree with, and this Chloe bag is one.

The Chloe Iris Strass Crochet Clutch is no doubt beautiful, but it is so expensive. Like, really expensive. The kind of expensive that makes you question if this bag is made of pure gold flakes. You see, it is an elongated ivory crochet clutch with Strass Swarovski embellishment. The crystals add a beautiful touch against the crochet body and do dress the bag up. I suppose the crystals could be adding the price tag. But I am assuming that is also the process of making this bag which goes that.

I actually like this clutch. It is refreshing and adds materials that we do not usually see in the handbag world. But as much as anyone can tell you this is an investment piece, watches replica, the price tag is really exorbitant. Crochet will show wear much easier as well, wholesale designer handbags, especially in a cream color. And then what if you loose a crystal. That would personally drive me nuts.

While there is a gold-tone frame and internal pouch pocket, I wonder if the crochet body will start to sag a bit over time. You have to note that in the stock images it will be set up as perfectly as possible yet it still appears to slouch a bit from some angles. I still love the idea of this clutch and materials used together, but the overall product is a bit lackluster and too expensive for me. Buy through Net A Porter for $2,360.

What do you think: Over-priced or priced right for the products used?
